La Orotava Cottage | Very Private Cottage In Avocado Plantation near Bollullo Beach

1 Bedroom Cottage with View, Balcony and Bedding

We invite you to come and enjoy a beautiful vacation in this exclusive guest house in one of the most unique spots of the North of Tenerife.
Located within an avocado plantation in the protected area of El Rincon, this roomy cottage is only 5 min away from La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz; the most important touristic towns of the north of the Island.
Here you will be able to enjoy a relaxing breakfast in your private terrace in the shade of an avocado tree while you listen to the song of the birds and sometimes the sound of the waves crushing against the shore of the nearby beaches. Of course you can also relax while sipping a glass of wine or reading a book on your private sunny terrace or get a fantastic tan on the roof top Sun Deck with wonderful views of the coast, the mountains and Teide.
The guest house has been completely refurbished in November of 2013. All is brand new and it offers the commodities of a high standard modern home without loosing the charm of the original construction.
It is the perfect place because of its tranquility and central location. Only 2 min from the TF-5, the main highway that connects the North with the rest of the Island, makes it easy to plan your sightseeing tours.
On the other hand, the farm is only a 25 min walk from some of the most spectacular black-sand beaches of the North (Bollullo, Los Patos and El Ancon). It is also the best place for planning your hitch hiking routes.
We will be glad to help you out if you want advice on the most interesting places to visit depending on your interests.
The property can accommodate a maximum of four* (2 adults and 2 small children or 3 adults) since it has a ample bedroom with a double bed 1.60 m wide) and a sofa-bed in the living room 1.20 m wide. It has free private parking and is fully equipped with glass-ceramic hob, conventional and microwave ovens, fridge, coffee maker, toaster, hot water heater, washing machine, iron, 40' LED TV with Satellite dish, DVD with USB port and fast internet Wi-Fi. All brand new.
As a welcome gift to our guests, we include a basket of fresh season fruits and bottle of Spanish vine
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to explore Tenerife while staying at one of the most unique places you can imagine.
NEAR VILLA JUANITA
Restaurants – The closest restaurant is “Restaurante San Diego” Here you can eat well and at a reasonable price. Try the “Pollo a la Brasa” “Grilled Chicken”; they use firewood for the grill and it is very tasty. You can walk from the property as long as you do not mind a steep hill after eating. If you go out to the main road at the Church, you walk down towards the Ocean, at approximately 200 meters you will find the restaurant right at the end of the strait stretch where the main road splits into 2 tracks. One to the left (track to Playa Bollullo) and one to the right (track to Playa el Ancon).
Supermarkets – You have many within 3 to 5 minutes by car. Mercadona, Hiperdino and Lidl in Santa Ursula are the closest. On Sundays you have to go to Puerto de la Cruz and there you can find “Hipertrebol” in “Centro Comercial La Cupula” or “Supermercado 2000” in La Paz or “Mercadona” in “Commercial Centre Martianez”.
Commercial Centres - “Centro Comercial Al Campo - La Villa” is the closest one (5 minutes by car) and is the largest in the North. It has a huge supermarket, many stores, cinema theatres and a few restaurants and bars. Also you can find McDonalds and Burger King. “Centro Comercial Martianez” is much smaller but it is in Puerto de la Cruz and opens Sundays.
Beaches – Close by you have three of the most beautiful black sand beaches of the north of the Island.
“Bollullo” is the closest (15 minutes walking) and has the best access; just follow the road from Restaurante San Diego to the left. Be aware that it is a dangerous beach and I would recommend only bathing in the shore, bathe only where you see locals doing it and be careful. This advice is good for all three beaches.
“Los Patos” is also close and the largest, the access is the trickiest. It is great in the summer and, if the sea is quiet, you may bathe with care in the winter as well. To get instructions on how to get there, please ask me.
“El Ancon” is my favourite Black sand, very few people and crystal clear water. The access is good and has beautiful views of “Playa de Los Patos” and the entire shore line from Puerto de La Cruz to Santa Ursula. However the beach tends to disappear in the winter months. To get there, follow the road from “Restaurante San Diego” to the left and when you get to the end, on the left, there is a narrow trail with farm walls on both sides and at the end starts an open trail on the edge of the cliffs with spectacular views. The trail is not dangerous and following it, takes you to the beach.
In Puerto de la Cruz you have “Playa Jardín” and “Playa Martianez” you can also swim in “San Telmo” or enjoy the natural salt water pools of “Lago Martianez” a beautiful complex designed by the famous canarian architect Cesar Manrrique.
Not far past Los Realejos you have “Playa del Socorro”, a beautiful black sand beach with lifeguard on duty that ensures that people swim where it’s safe; away from the natural currents that are so dangerous and common in the northern beaches.
Things to do – Places to Visit
There are lots of activities that you can enjoy and places to visit while staying at Villa Juanita.
I would recommend that you visit La Orotava (Oldest colonial town of the North of the Island dating back to 1496 and only a 5 to 8 minute drive away from the property. Here you can see The “Casa de Los Balcones” an old colonial house with spectacular wooden handcrafted balconies and a beautiful interior patio that present in all colonial houses in the Canary Islands. Here you can find all kinds of typical objects ranging from hand crafted tablecloths, typical costumes, souvenirs, gourmet specialties and local spirits. Also you can visit the 'Victoria Gardens', the Town Hall or the beautiful Church of La Concepcion. There are many small restaurants where you can enjoy the typical Spanish tapas or full meals or enjoy a nice expresso at the Kiosko of Plaza de la Constitucion for under 1€ (and this is standard price in local bars).
Also within a 5 minute drive you can be in Puerto de la Cruz (main tourist centre of the north). Here you can visit the Botanical Gardens, enjoy a relaxing Spa at the Hotel Playa Canaria, visit the Loro Parque which holds one of the most extensive collections of Parrots of the whole world (also has Killer Whale and Dolphin shows, Kids adventure play area, Shark Tunnel, Aquarium, Piguinarium and much more). Also in Puerto de la Cruz you can enjoy the salt water swimming pool complex of “Lago Martianez” designed by the famous canarian arquitect Cesar Manrrique or enjoy a relaxing walk from San Telmo to Plaza del Charco. There is also a gambling casino, restaurants, bars, a fishing pier, etc. Bathing in the ocean can be done at Playa Jardin, San Telmo or Playa Martianez.
Don’t miss out on visiting the National Park “Las Cañadas del Teide” The road to get there as well as the National Park itself constitute one of the most beautiful volcanic landscapes of the world.
Please feel free to ask us about other activities or places of your interest. We will try to help you in any way we can. And most of all; ENJOY YOUR STAY!!!!

Summary: We loved the natural beauty of the setting, the privacy and the comfort. We like to cook, and were able to make a local dish we had enjoyed at a restaurant in the very well stocked kitchen. Our host was very helpful. A multi paged sheet of information about the property and the area was provided. And Ted himself stopped by to see how we were doing and to answer any questions. We would like to suggest that the phrase "Turn at the red church" be added to the directions for how to get here. The location is wonderful for day trips in either direction. We visited the Botanical Gardens, Anaga Park, the History Museum in La Laguna, El Socoro Beach and Icod de la las Vinos. The internet worked fine and the TV was a good size for relaxing after our trips.Thank you Ted!
